Obituary of George Harry Taylor
Please share a memory of George to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
George Taylor, 82, of the Bronx, NY, departed this life from us in peace on July 26, 2024, after a long battle of sickness at St. Barnabas Hospital in Bronx, NY. George was born to the late Harry Taylor and Louise Bush in Washington, DC on August 30, 1941.
George came to NJ shortly after he was born and worked various jobs including the Seabrook House and Hunt's. George moved to NY in his twenties and he worked hard until retiring in the Bronx.
George loved his family, his dogs, good oldies music, as well as singing and dancing to songs by Sam Cook and James Brown. He loved to be around others for good conversation and would talk on the phone with his family for hours. He had a few favorites that he enjoyed talking to which were his favorite cousins, Lil Edie and Spuggy, as well as his favorite aunts, Edith Selby, Mary Bridges, and Elsie Hudgon. He enjoyed spending time with his best friend, Butterfly of New York and his favorite home attendant of New York, Teandra.
On any given day, George could be found doing "action news" from his balcony and interviewing people in the neighborhood on video. George was very outspoken and he also enjoyed helping others, if he had it, so did you. George spoke powerful quotes such as, "Two people can sing together but they cannot talk at the same time" and "You have to listen". Some of George's last words were, "Family needs to get together and just be family again."
George leaves to cherish his memories; sisters, Dorothy Heigh, Vanessa Heigh and Faith Johnson and Elsie Thomas of Bridgeton, NJ; brother, Julius Heigh of Trenton, NJ; aunts, Edith Selby, Mary Bridges, and Elsie Hudgon; a host of uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; and last but not least, his son/dog, King. George was preceded in death by; his wife, Christina Taylor; parents, Louise Bush and Harry Taylor; brother, Clemm Heigh; sister, Louise Taylor; and nephew, James Frazier.
