Obituary of Equilla Harris

Equilla Harris, 75, of Vineland passed away on Saturday, August 17, 2024 at Inspira Hospital in Vineland. Born in Bridgeton to the late Willie Jones and Irene Hilton Jones, she was the wife of the late Lonnie Harris. She had been a resident of Cumberland County her entire life. Prior to her retirement, Equilla had worked as a CNA at the Cumberland Manor from 1978-2006. She was a member of St. Phillips Missionary Baptist Church in Bridgeton. Before St. Phillip's, she had been a member of First Baptist Church in Deerfield Twp. In her free time, Equilla loved to talk on the phone to family and friends, watching crime procedural TV shows especially “In the Heat of the Night” and watching Gospel TV. She would never turn down a ride with family and friends, it didn't matter where as long as she had a Diet Pepsi. Her favorite family outings were Wildwood, Berlin and Cowtown. She was an inspiration to everyone and enjoyed ministering to others. Equilla never forgot to acknowledge a birthday or holiday and loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She is survived by; her son, Lonnie Harris, Jr. (Davita Lopez) of Atlantic City, her daughter, Angela Dennis-Scott (William) of Vineland, three grandsons, William Dennis, Joshua Dennis, Hakeem Dennis,7 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members. Besides her husband, Lonnie Harris, Sr.; she was preceded in death by; her daughter, Denise Dennis and four brothers, Willie Jones II, Floyd Jones, Sr., Norris Jones and Roosevelt Jones. Funeral services will be held at St. Phillip's Missionary Baptist Church, 275 Richardson Ave., Bridgeton on Friday, August 30th at 11 AM. Interment will take place at Cumberland County Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Hopewell Twp. Friends will be received at the church from 9 AM to 11 AM prior to the services.
