Obituary of Mary Ellen Green
Please share a memory of Mary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mary Ellen Green, 74, a lifelong resident of Cedarville, passed suddenly on August 13, 2024.
She was predeceased by her parents, Ellen and Oliver Green and is survived by her wife of 26 years, Diane Brunetta and many cousins as well.
A lifetime Cedarville resident, Mary Ellen was a career nurse serving the Cumberland County community for 50 years. Her nursing work started with caring for migrant children while working with SCOPE and the Teen Center in Bridgeton. After receiving her R.N. Degree from Cumberland County College she continued her education at Skidmore College where she received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She then returned to Cedarville and began working at Newcomb Hospital in Vineland in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit where she spent the majority of her long and devoted career to the care of sick babies and their families. Before her retirement, she also worked for the New Jersey Department of Corrections in the Medical Division of South Woods State Prison in Bridgeton.
When not involved in nursing, she was a consummate storyteller. Drawing from cultures around the world as she told their stories. For her storytelling was a performance, complete with costumes, props and music. She performed throughout the region at libraries, schools, bookstores and private venues. But the thing that brought her the most joy was caring for her beloved cats and later her dogs.
At Mary Ellen's request burial is to be private.
A Memorial Celebration of her life will be held on October 27, 2024 at the Cedarville Fire Department Fire Hall, 30 Maple Ave. Cedarville, from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
