Doretta “Jean” Dunmeyer Burley, Age 88, Of upper Deerfield township Passed away Friday afternoon, September 6, 2024 at home surrounded by her loved ones. She had been under hospice care for the last three years and in declining health for the past 11 years. She was preceded by her husband: David S. Burley, her two sons: Dean w. Burley ( neonatal death), Darren A. Burley of MA. Her granddaughter: Christine L. Burley of MA. Her Parents: David and Sylvia Tressler Dunmeyer of PA. her sister: Clara L. Hostetler of PA, her brother: David J Dunmeyer Jr. and his wife Peggy R. Dunmeyer of PA. She had been an Upper Deerfield resident for 23 years, moving there from Florida where she lived for 13 years. Mr. and Mrs. Burley also lived in Port Elizabeth where they raised their family for many years. Prior to her retirement in 1993, she worked as a secretary at the Newcomb Medical Center. Jean and her husband also owned and operated D. J.’s Variety Store in Port Elizabeth, American Fiber Corp in Millville and many rental properties. Jean loved bowling and was a member of a few bowling leagues for many years, she also enjoyed crocheting and knitting Gifts for the family! She was an avid baseball fan, she would be watching one game while listening to another on the radio, cheering for both teams!! Jean was a life long member of the Nazarene church and in her latter years attended the Hardingville Bible church with her family. Survivors include, two daughters: Debra J. Burley of Burlington NJ and Diane L Carr of Upper Deerfield. 16 grandchildren: Christine, Joseph, Joshua, David, Daniel, Darren Jr., James, Christopher and Faith (Burley). Jennifer, Tiffeny, Matthew, Ryan, Joshua, Leah, Olivia and Sylvia ( Carr ). 14 great grandchildren, daughter in-law: M. Judith Burley, sister in-law: Dr Mary Anne Herron. And many nieces and nephews. Burial took place privately at Head of The River Cemetery, Estelle Manor, NJ. Lovingly Submitted by the family. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions in Mrs. Burleys memory be made to a local ministry of ones choice.
