Obituary of Joan Berstler

Joan Berstler, 75, of Newport went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 1, 2013. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at home after her battle with cancer. Born and raised in Philadelphia (Kensington), on February 7, 1938 she was the daughter of the late Otto Grauwickel and Gertrude Ashman Grauwickel and the wife of the late George A. Berstler. She had lived in Newport for 24 years and prior to that was a resident of Fortescue. Joan loved spending time with her family and also enjoyed reading, needlepoint and visiting Fortescue. She especially loved going to Wildwood for "Cousins Week" with her family. She was previously employed with DeRose's Deli when it was located in Bridgeton and later in Hopewell Twp. She is survived by her son, James Berstler of Newport; her daughter, Joanie Grace of Fortescue; three grandchildren, Joseph Grace and his companion Lisa Fithian of Buena, Joan Marie Grace and her companion Mark Crispo of Cedarville and Mason James Berstler of FL; her sister, Catherine Owens of Maple Shade; nephews, Robert Owens and wife Carrie and their two sons, Robert and Kevin and Steve Owens and wife Jackie and their daughters Lauren and Danielle; cousins, Arlene Barnett and husband Bob, Loretta Langdon and Anna Mae Petrone and husband Phil. She was predeceased by a grandson, James George Grace. Funeral services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 160 Main Street, Cedarville, on Monday, May 6th at 12 Noon. Friends will be received from 11 AM to 12 Noon prior to the services. Burial will take place at Newport Baptist Cemetery, Downe Twp.
