Obituary of Betty Hitchner

Born in Bridgeton on December 29, 1919 to the late Stephen Vaughan and Hazel Bowers Vaughan, she was the wife of the late Eugene T. Hitcher. She had been a resident of Upper Deerfield Township since 1945 and prior to that she had lived in Bridgeton.
Before her retirement in 1974, she had been employed as a nurse at Bridgeton Hospital for 20 years. Betty was a member of the Parish of the Holy Cross, Immaculate Conception Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Janet A. Griedas (Barney) of Bridgeton; a sister, Dorothy Weaver of Astabule, OH and two grandsons, Victor Hamidy, Jr. of Florida and Matthew Hamidy (Deven) of Bridgeton. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Juliet A. Hitchner; a brother, Wendell Vaughan and two sisters, Margaret Pendleton and Sylvia Hester.
Funeral Services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Twp., on Tuesday, May 28th at 1 PM. Interment will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery in Bridgeton. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 12 Noon to 1 PM prior to the services. Written condolences may be sent to the family through the funeral home website at www.padgettfuneralhomes.com.
