Obituary of John A Conway, Jr.

John A. Conway, Jr., age 66, of Pilesgrove, passed into the presence of the Lord on June 11, 2013, after a valiant battle with ALS. John is survived by his devoted wife, Carol Conway. They were married 40 years. The youngest child of the late John A., Sr. and Emma Snyder Conway of Paulsboro, he was born in Camden on February 1, 1947. He is also survived by Joseph Conway, three nieces and one nephew. John graduated from St. John's Parochial School in 1961 and graduated from Paulsboro High School. He also attended Philadelphia Textiles and Sciences and Glassboro State College. John worked at the DuPont Chambers Works Site in Deepwater for 39 and a half years. After retirement he joined AllStates Technical Services where he continued to work as a contractor for DuPont for three years. He was an active member of the Christ Community Baptist Tabernacle, where he enjoyed playing trumpet three services a week. He also played lead trumpet at the Ocean City Baptist Church as part of the Ocean City Praise Praise Team for a period of time. John was a Veteran of the U.S. Army. He served as trumpet player in the 384th Army Band located at Fort Eustace, VA. He was a member of Bugles Across America and the Woodstown American Legion Post 237. He was also a member of New Jersey honor guard and Taps was his specialty. He assisted local funeral homes with military funerals. John enjoyed spending time in Ocean City at their family home at 1821 Haven Ave for 30 years. Funeral Services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Twp., on Monday, June 17th at 11 AM. Interment will take place at Salem County Veteran's Cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 10 to 11 AM prior to the services.
