Obituary of Phyllis D. Sheppard

Phyllis D. Sheppard, age 85 of Cedarville passed away Friday night, June 21, 2013. Born July 26, 1927 in Atlantic City she was the daughter of the late William Wesley and Edna (Muller) Davis. Phyllis was the wife of the late Charles Clifton Sheppard to whom she had been married 42 years when he passed away in 1989. She was a graduate of Bridgeton High School class of 1945. Phyllis was a long time resident of Cedarville and was bookkeeper for J. L. Danzenbaker & Sons International Harvester in Cedarville for many years then later was an outreach worker for the Cumberland County Office on Aging, retiring at age 75. She had been a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Cedarville since 1955 and had held many offices as well as being a Sunday School Teacher. She enjoyed cooking family dinners and taking bus trips, her favorite ones were to New England and Canada. She also enjoyed her bus trips to the Atlantic City Casinos. Phyllis is survived by two daughters, Cynthia "Cindy" Ayars (Jim) of Millville and Nola Speeney (Anthony) of Bellmawr. She is also survived by three grandchildren, David A. Speeney, Bellmawr, Sherry L. Speeney (fianc Pete McAteer) of Mullica Hill, and Thomas S. Ayars(Hannah Coon) of Danbury, CT; her brother, Kent M. Davis of Upper Marlboro, Md., and her sister-in-law Mary Yoey of Cedarville along with several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 160 Main Street, Cedarville on Wednesday, June 26th at 11 AM. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 10 to 11 AM prior to the services. Interment will be made at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Cedarville.
