Obituary of John W. Gardner

John W. Gardner, age 81, of Cedarville died Monday, July 1, 2013 at Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center in Camden following a seven month period of declining health. The son of the late Simelee Gardner and Lovie Jenkins Gardner he was born in Kingston, NC on January 5, 1932 and was the husband of Marie Holland Gardner. He had lived in Cedarville for 40 years and was a Newport resident prior to that. Mr. Gardner had been employed as a boatsman in the clamming industry on vessels working out of Cape May and Point Pleasant. He was a member and Deacon of Unity Fellowship Church in Millville. In addition to his wife Marie, he is survived by three sons, John Gardner, Jr. of CA, Joel Gardner of GA and Gary Gardner of CA; two daughters, Lovie Ruth Sarpy of CA and Elder Lenore Petty of MD along with several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by two brothers, Simelee and James Gardner. Funeral services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway # 77, Upper Deerfield Twp. on Tuesday, July 9th at 12 Noon. Friends will be received from 11 AM to 12 Noon prior to the services at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Haleyville Methodist Cemetery in Commercial Twp.
