Obituary of Delroy S. Carey

Delroy S. Carey, 91, of Fairfield Twp., died on Saturday August 30, 2014 at his home. Born in Brownstown, Kingston, Jamaica to the late Herbert Carey and Muriel Menzies Carey, he was the husband of the late Allene Meeks Carey. Delroy had lived at his present address for the past 46 years and prior to that he had resided in Bridgeton and Seabrook. Prior to his retirement, he had been employed at Seabrook Farms in Seabrook for 37 years and after that had worked at the Cumberland Manor in Hopewell Twp. for over 10 years. Delroy was a former member of the West Indian Jamaican Club in Bridgeton. He was an avid musician who enjoyed singing and playing his harmonica and guitar. He is survived by three children, Barry Carey and his wife Joan of Bronx, NY, Sheila Nicholson and the late Thomas of Cedarville, Sonya Carey-Beverly and her husband John of Millville; five grandchildren and a great-grandson. He was preceded in death by a brother, Walter. Funeral services will be held at Union Baptist Temple, South Pine Street and Martin Luther King, Jr. Way, Bridgeton on Saturday, September 6th at 2 PM. Interment will take place at Gouldtown Memorial Park in Fairfield Twp. Friends will be received at the church from 12 PM to 2 PM prior to the services.
