Obituary of Jay I. Caruthers

Jay I. Caruthers, 82, of Vineland died Thursday, November 20, 2014 at Inspira Medical Center in Vineland. Born in Bridgeton, he was the son of the late Jehu H. Caruthers and Clara Rasch Caruthers and had been a Vineland resident for the past 49 years moving there from Bridgeton. Before to his retirement in 1994, Jay had been employed as Purchasing Agent for Fox Company in Newfield for 10 years and prior that with Wheaton Plastics in Mays Landing for 20 years. A member of First United Methodist Church in Vineland, he had served his country during the Korean Conflict with the United States Navy. He was a 1950 graduate of Bridgeton High School. A 1959 graduate of the University of Maryland, he was a member of the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity and the Terrapin Club. Jay is survived by several cousins and friends. Graveside funeral services will be held at Overlook Cemetery in Bridgeton on Friday, December 5th at 1 PM where the interment will follow the services.
