William K. Chaffins, 74, of Upper Deerfield Twp. died on Friday, June 26, 2015 at his home under the care of hospice. Born in Cannelton, WV to the late Frank Chaffins and Bertha Sadler Chaffins, he was the husband of Joan Wolbert Chaffins. William had been an Upper Deerfield Twp. resident for 52 years and prior to that he had lived in West Virginia. Before his retirement, he had been employed as a Forman with Ball Glass Co. in Rahway. He had also been previously employed with Leone Industries and Owens- Illinois Glass Co. in Bridgeton. William had served as an Upper Deerfield Twp. Police Officer and had worked for the Upper Deerfield Twp. Streets and Roads Dept. He was a member of the Upper Deerfield Fire Co. #3. In his free time, he enjoyed bowling and watching the West Virginia Mountaineers Football Team. He also enjoyed attending the sporting events of his grandchildren. Besides his wife Joan, he is survived by his four children, Donald P. Santini of Vineland, Stephanie Ann Zabita of Hopatcong, William K. Chaffins, Jr. of Clinton, SC and Amy Lynn Diamond of Ocean City; a brother, Kenneth K. Chaffins of WV; a sister, Aletta Johnson of WV; eight grandchildren and a great-grandson. He was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations can be made in William’s memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
