John P. Starkey, 69, of Bridgeton died Sunday, October 4, 2015 at Penn Presbyterian Hospital in Philadelphia.
The husband of the late June Preston Starkey, he was born in Camden and was the son of the late Benjamin S. Starkey and Mildred Garrison Starkey. He had lived in Bridgeton for the past 7 years and prior to that was a resident of Upper Deerfield Township.
John had been employed with the Wheaton Glass Company in Millville for 47 years before his retirement.
He enjoyed bowling and was an avid hunter and a member of the Good Sports Gun Club for over 40 years. He attended Bethel Baptist Church in Upper Deerfield.
Surviving are four daughters, Martha Ann Derrick of FL., June A. Buckingham of TX, Deborah Jacob of DE and Shannon D. Sutton of Bridgeton; three step-sons, David Derrick of NM, James Patch of Shiloh and T.J. Patch of West Deptford along with 15 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter, Dianne Derrick-Sutton.
Private services were held at the convenience of the family at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, Upper Deerfield Township. Burial will take place at Rose Hill Cemetery in Newfield. Written condolences can be sent to the family at www.padgettfuneralhomes.com.
