Obituary of Carmella Barlam

Carmella Barlam, age 99, of Cedarville died Wednesday morning, December 9, 2015 at Genesis-Millville Center following a brief illness. The daughter of the late Vito Galati and Teresa Lamanteer Galati, she was born in Toms Creek, VA and was the wife of 65 years of the late Joseph D. Barlam, Sr. who died in 2001. She had been a resident of Cedarville for 93 years moving there from Virginia. Mrs. Barlam had previously been employed with various sewing factories in the area and also had worked in the cafeteria at the Myron L. Powell Elementary School in Cedarville. She was a longtime member of the Parish of the Holy Cross-St. Michael’s Church in Cedarville and the Church Altar and Rosary Society. Surviving are her daughter, Delores Bassetti of Vineland; her son, Joseph D. Barlam, Jr. of Cedarville; two grandchildren, Suzanne Munafo of Vineland and Joseph D. Barlam, III of Indianapolis; a sister, Betty Bassetti of Vineland and a brother, John Miletta of Pittsgrove along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by three sisters, Rose Bonham, Minnie Notaro and Sue Gallaher and five brothers, Vito, James, Bruno, Tony and Joe. Her Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at the Parish of the Holy Cross-St. Michael’s Church, 367 Main Street, Cedarville on Saturday, December 12th at 11 AM. Friends will be received at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Twp. on Friday evening, December 11th from 7 to 9 PM and on Saturday morning from 9 to 10 AM. Interment will be made at Holy Cross Cemetery in Millville.
