Obituary of Frank J. Poloff, Sr.

Frank J. Poloff, Sr., 97, of Bridgeton passed away on Friday, December 25, 2015 at Cumberland Manor in Hopewell Twp. He was born in Johnstown, PA on August 2, 1918 to the late John Poloff and Filomena “Laura” Petack Poloff and was raised in Cedarville. Before his retirement, Frank had worked for 38 years for the former Price Label Co. in Bridgeton and for many more years drove the Cumberland County Senior Bus. He really never retired, working was his hobby. He was a lifetime member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bridgeton where he had served as a Deacon. He served his country as a member of the United States Army during the Second World War for seven years. During that time he transported prisoners from the front lines at the Battle of the Bulge. He received several medals for his service and an Honorable Discharge following the War. He would help anyone who he could and will be greatly missed. He was married to the late Evalyn Fletchinger Poloff for 73 years until her death in 2013. Frank leaves his two sons, Frank, Jr. and wife Marcia and Dennis and wife Sharon; four grandchildren, Melanie Poloff, Jenifer Smith and husband, Steve, Emily Poloff and Jonathan Poloff and wife, Erica; three great-grandchildren, Zachary Smith, Courtney Smith and Nathan Poloff and two siblings, Carmen Poloff and Violet Smith. He was predeceased by two sons, Frank Dennis Poloff and Robert Poloff, three brothers, Salvadore, Fred and Anthony Poloff and a sister, Jenny Butcher. Funeral services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Twp. on Thursday, Dec. 31st at 11 AM. Friends will be received from 10 to 11 AM prior to the services. Interment will take place at Fernwood Memorial Park in Hopewell Twp.
