Obituary of Michael Broughton

Michael L. Broughton, 62, of Millville died on Monday morning, February 15, 2016 at Lincoln Specialty Care in Vineland under the care of Hospice following an extended illness. Born in Millville to the late Leonard “June” Waters and the late Avis Broughton, he was the husband of Peggy Marie Bowser Broughton. Michael was raised in Port Norris but had been a resident of Millville for the past 24 years. Prior to his illness, Michael had worked as a fork lift operator for the Vineland Produce Auction for over 10 years. Before that, he had also been employed by several seafood companies in the Port Norris and Bivalve area in the oyster industry and he cooked at the casinos in Atlantic City. He was a member of John Wesley United Methodist Church in Port Norris. In his free time, Michael loved to detail cars and cook. He was also dedicated to spending time with his children and family. Michael is survived by; his wife, Peggy Marie Broughton; two sons, Michael Broughton, Jr. and Tony Broughton both of Millville; twin daughters, Mykia Broughton and Michay Broughton both of Port Norris; his step-children, Jacquel Bowser of Millville and Jalisa Bowser of Bridgeton; his sister, Gloria Cullen of Millville; two special nieces, Janet “Jan-Jan” Broughton and Chanel Parker; his oldest Aunt, Dorothy Broughton of Port Norris; six grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members. He was preceded in death by; two brothers, Tony Broughton and Ronald Broughton; his twin brother, Mitchell Broughton and his mother-in-law, Julie Bowser. Funeral services will be held at Shiloh Baptist Church, 2411 Memorial Ave., Port Norris on Tuesday, February 23rd at 12 Noon. Interment will take place at Haleyville Methodist Cemetery in Commercial Twp. Friends will be received at the church from 10 AM to 12 Noon prior to the services.
