Obituary of Herbert J. Dooley

Herbert J. “Reds” Dooley, 82, of Upper Deerfield Twp. died on Thursday, March 17, 2016 at Cumberland Manor in Hopewell Twp. Born in Bedford, VA to the late Letcher Dooley and Vina Overstreet Dooley, he was the husband of Dorothy Latzko Dooley of Shiloh and the late Betty Jane Frey Dooley. Reds had been a resident of the Bridgeton area since 1943 and prior to that he had lived in Virginia. Before his retirement in 1995 he had been the manager of Thompson Motor Parts in Bridgeton for 40 years. He was a member and former president of the 5th Ward Athletic Club in Bridgeton. Reds was an avid fan of NASCAR racing, especially the Virginia drivers and a sports fan, particularly the southern teams. In addition to his wife Dorothy, he is survived by two sons, Michael T. Dooley and his wife Terry of Lawrence Twp and Jack Alan Dooley and his wife Tina of Hopewell Twp.; a daughter, Kathy Rizzo and her husband Anthony of Pittsgrove Twp.; a brother, Earl Dooley of Upper Deerfield Twp.; three sisters, Lorraine Hayes of Upper Deerfield Twp., Margaret Polhamus of Hopewell Twp., Joanne Saul of Upper Deerfield Twp. and five grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Twp. on Tuesday, March 22nd at 11 AM. Interment will take place at Laurel Lawn Cemetery in Upper Deerfield Twp. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 10 AM to 11 AM prior to the services.
