Obituary of Virginia Scalese

Virginia Ropp Scalese, age 73, of Hopewell Township passed away on Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at Eagleview Rehabilitation Center in Pittsgrove Township. The daughter of the late Harry Ropp and Isabella Drain Buchholz, she was born in Bridgeton on May 12, 1939 and had lived in Hopewell Township for the past 12 years. Prior to that she was an Upper Deerfield Township and Bridgeton resident. She was married to the late Wilhelm Kuehn Sr. for 17 years and to the late David Taylor Sr. for 17 years. A Girl Scout in her youth, she later became a Girl Scout leader and was also the leader of the Sunshire Girls. Virginia had served as a member of the Volunteer Department at Bridgeton Hospital and was a member of the Laurel Hill United Methodist Church and later the First United Methodist Church both in Bridgeton. She was a graduate of the Bridgeton High School Class of 1958. Surviving are her children, Kathi R. Carlaw of Shiloh, Susan L. Foster of Kutztown, PA, and Wilhelm H. Kuehn, Jr. of Shiloh; a sister, Martha Parkell of Salem; a brother, Harry J. Ropp of Elkview, WV; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Foster-Mathieson, Kyle Foster, Ethan Carlaw, Kayla Sullivan, Michael Sullivan, Tina Taylor and Kristy Taylor; and three great grandchildren, Nathaniel Mathieson, Noah Mathieson and Hailey Foster. Funeral Services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Township, on Tuesday July 31st at 11 AM. Burial will take place at Overlook Cemetery in Bridgeton.
