Obituary of Alexander H. Miller

Alexander H. Miller, age 97, passed away April 20, 2024 after a brief illness. He was a lifetime resident of Cumberland County born to the late Alexander and Emma (Pierce) Miller. As a young boy and into adulthood he was always a hard worker, known for his kindness and decency and always ready to lend a helping hand. He enjoyed working at farming, mechanical work, and excavation work, and never lost his love of the outdoors and gardening. In later years he worked with his son at Miller’s Garage, and in retirement he again enjoyed helping at his son’s roadside farm stand. Also in his retirement years he enjoyed playing cards, pool and visiting with people, especially area farmers. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served his country during World War Two. He was predeceased of his loving wife of 52 years, Sally (Durham) Miller and three sisters, Frances Miller, Carolyn Cuff, Ella Lively and a brother, David (Barbara) Miller. He and his wife have five children, Penelope (late, Walter) Pierce, Alexander B. (Cherylene) Miller, Sherman (AnnMarie) Miller, Sharon Davis, Vicki (late, James) Ross. Five grand-children, Alexander B. Jr. (Agnessa) Miller, Brenda (Deon) Brunskill, Bobi (Dave) Campbell, Sherman T. (Jessica) Miller, Lynne (Moe) Seagrave; and thirteen great-grandchildren, Alex, Sammy, Mia, Jaslene, Aaliyah, Colin, Conner, Casey, Angela, Makinlee, Ellie, Lincoln and Moe, III and several nieces and nephews. He would say his greatest treasures in life are his children, grand-children and great-grandchildren. He would light up with joy in the presence of his grands. He will always be remembered as a loving dad and pop-pop. Funeral services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Township on Saturday, April 27th at 2:30 PM. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 1:30 to 2:30 prior to the services. Interment will take place at Fernwood Memorial Park in Hopewell Township.
